Yes, it is that time of the year again. Earth Day is coming! What exciting things will you do? I have saved a bunch of great "ideas" I have read over the past year. I hope to use a few of them. Of course my favorites are: decoupaging a shoe box for reuse, turning old t-shirts into shopping bags(thanks Kathy) and my new favorite - making wastebaskets from gift bags.
If we all just found one way to re-use a recyclable the world would be that much more amazing.
Hopefully people will send me ideas so I can add them to my collection. I am hoping to have a pdf of recycle crafts and creations available by fall 2011.
Have a great Earth Day!

Rain Rain Go Away
Seems we have been plagued with rain at every turn. One can only hope that with Spring around the corner the sun will come out!
Here's something Spring Like to do with the little guys!
Need:
Carrot for each child(raw)
Paper
Tempra or other washable paints
Markers or Crayons
plate for each color
Cut carrot so you have a circle shape and than halve the end so you have a long shape. Pour some paint onto a plate.
Dip circle and stamp on paper. Using long piece dip in a different color. press around circle making petals. Repeat covering paper. Allow to dry! Instant Spring! For fun, sprinkle table salt on wet flowers and shake excess off. When dry it will sparkle!
See you tomorrow. Let's pray for sun!

Leprechauns and other things green
With St Patricks Day around the corner crafters tend to think green. Partly because I am not Irish I thought maybe I would take on the recycled meaning"green". Those who know me are well versed in my green approach to kids and crafting. Everything from milk caps to toilet paper tubes, cans to jars. Everything we use can be repurposed. We even take cereal boxes and re-make them into journals.
I am hoping someof you might lend your favorite "green" craft to our list. I also invite you all to visit my friend Kathy's Etsy site! She is a very "green" lady and her t-shirt bags are a perfect example! So check her out!

Welcome
Well, today begins my next adventure on the road to Socially Networking my business to death! Blogging! Just the thought of it is tiring! Hopefully though, I will be able to solve Craft dilemma's, provide alternative material ideas, occasionally offer a great craft recipe as well as network with all the closet crafters out there!
One of the most frequent questions we get at the store is"Do you know how to do...?" To fill in that blank would take days as people ask it every day. I think everyone should have a neighborhood Craft store to help them out. I never try to sell them something, usually because I do not have what they are looking for. I do find however, that my common answer to most questions is check out the Hardware store or go to the Dollar Store. People seem to like that we take the time to actually listen to thier problem and try to help them solve it. I find that usually that person will come back to buy something later.
Your feedback on this would be great. Do you like being given options when you can't find what you need? Especially if they are low cost? Do you have a favorite substitution? Please share!
